At Doulas Etc. we provide more than birth support and are here to serve you throughout your journey to motherhood. Below is a list of our additional services from prenatal education to postpartum care. You can find more information on our personal sites (linked in the descriptions of our expertise) or Contact Us and we will get you in touch with the right doula for your needs!

Birth Planning Consultations

This is a great option for those looking for information and guidance on their journey but not sure about having a doula at their birth. Get coffee with Shannon and pick her brain for two hours, talk about your expectations, ask questions and prepare for an experience you will carry with you throughout life. You will get a kit designed to help you be confident in your choices, know what to anticipate, and help you evaluate your expectations for your birth!

Childbirth Education

Three of our doulas offer quality Childbirth Education Series! Find more info on each doula’s website: Laura - Marcia - Shannon

Don’t forget we offer a FREE quarterly 2 hour childbirth education course in person to help get you equipped for your birth experience.

Birth Doulas

Each member of Doulas Etc. offers support as a birth doula. You can get a feel for our personalities and experience on our About Page and set up a coffee date to ask questions in person. Picking the right doula really comes down to comfort and fit, deciding who you would be most comfortable with during such an intimate time. Know that we all serve our clients in a similar way. After your consult we meet for two prenatal visits to discuss your options for birth, outline your research in a birth plan and practice comfort measures. Your doula is then on-call for you by 38 weeks until baby arrives and will join you in active labor to provide continuous support for you and your partner. We will stay with you during the "golden hour" and help you establish breastfeeding then schedule a postpartum house visit to process your birth experience!

Placenta Encapsulation

Mothers who encapsulate their placenta report a more positive and healthier postpartum! Capsules have been reported to help naturally balance hormones, increase milk production, replenish lost iron, stabilize your mood and assist in preventing baby blues. Doulas Etc. has an APPA certified encapsulation specialist who serves mothers across Central IL. You can contact Shannon directly or fill out our contact form to see who has availability open near your due date.

Postpartum Doula Care

Parents need nurture and support as they settle in with their babies. Postpartum doulas fill an important role in providing emotional, physical, and evidence-based informational support to the new family after the birth of a baby. Charity and Sheri are wonderful postpartum doulas.

Still Birthday Doulas

In addition to emotional and physical support we are here to help answer the hard unexpected questions that accompany loss. Marcia is specially trained to specifically understand the process of pregnancy loss and infant loss and what that journey will entail for you and your family. At a time when you feel lost and unsure we are there to walk along side you. We have depth and understanding of the birth process, arrangements after birth, postpartum care and fetal development associated with pregnancy loss.
